Thanksgiving 2013

I know we are in 2014 but I took a long hiatus from writing because I was having too much fun with my two little ones!!!  It's way past thanksgiving but it deserves its own entry.  After being asked every day if it was "halloween day," we made a smooth transition into "is it christmas day?"   I tried my best to give thanksgiving its proper credit.  Turkey and pilgrims filled the month of November.

The weather was beautiful all month.  Jack and Sophie loved being outside in our yard.  They truly enjoy playing near the live oaks, and on this bench around one of the largest oaks.

Jack @ 3 1/4 years

Sophie @ 20 months

Jack has started showing interest in sports.  He loves to throw and catch the football.  He also likes to kick the ball around.  He is still totally obsessed with Superman, flying and capes.  He doesn't go anywhere including school, Publix and to bed without a cape.  It is a true fight to get him to wear a regular shirt anymore.

Sophie's super hero is Jack. She wakes from her naps and immediately asks, "Where's Jack?"  When Carl comes home, she runs and gives him a hug and then points to where Jack is.  She loves doing everything he is doing.

Jack loves sticks. He is constantly trying to smuggle them into my house.  He taunts the dogs and cat with them.

Sophie is a great eater.  She loves all food.  Her favorite items are still cookies and pop pops.  The holiday season added a new word and favorite food to her vocabulary, CHOCOLATE.

Only 22 months apart, these two really are close friends.  They play happily together making food in their kitchen, watching tv on the couch and now Sophie even wears capes like Jack!

Here she is trying to make him laugh!!!

Jack is still a momma's boy.  When we work on letters and numbers, he hugs me every time he gets one right.  I love how he tells me "Momma, you're the best"  and calls me his best friend.  Oh, how my heart melts. He literally has me wrapped around his finger.

Look at that long hair!!!

My blondie will still take two naps if she is offered them.  I wish she would be a good afternoon napper but rarely her nap lasts more than an hour.  Jack still take a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon.  I really hope these naps last a little longer.

Sophie is still a thumb sucker and Jack still sucks his pointer and middle fintgers.

Sophie's favorite animals are monkeys and elephants.  She loves to point them out in her room and at the zoo.

Jack and Sophie in their matching Santa PJs

We are constantly told that Sophie looks like Cindy Lou Who from the Grinch.  I kind of see it in this picture.

This is what happens to your house when your kids wake up at 6 am.  By 730 am, I was willing to let the kids paint in the kitchen! We were out of the house by 9 am to avoid destroying the rest of the house.  The kids started an art and music class on Thursday mornings.  The class is with some of Jack's classmates and their siblings. They get to play instruments and make an art project each week.  They really love it!

Fun in the playroom

She is ready for the Christmas season to start!

Our Christmas card
For thanksgiving, Granny Corinne came to visit us.  Hanukkah began the same weekend so we were able to celebrate it with her.  We lit the candles every night.  The kids enjoyed watching her light them, playing with the dreidels and eating the chocolate!

So funny!

I got a huge bird this year.  It was 25 pounds, the SAME weight as Sophie!!!! Sophie and her bird!

Jack had a great time with his Granny. He really enjoyed reading with her, and playing toys with her.

Jack basting the bird. He thought he was painting it:)

He thought it was hilarious

Instead of getting a professional photographer, Lucy and I took pictures of each others families for the holiday.  Here are some of the other ones.

  1. Yay! I'm so glad to see the kiddos growing here on your blog. :) The pictures of Jack and Sophie are so great, and you can tell they really have fun together. The photo on the couch of her making Jack laugh is so precious. The ones of them at Christmas are great, too. I'm glad Corinne got to visit you all for Thanksgiving, and I didn't know she even celebrated Hanukkah. Very cool. Thanks for the update; I can't wait to see you all again!
    Love,
    Aunt Jess
