The holidays are always tough without Carl but it made it better knowing that this was the last major one we would be apart. Two of our closest friends here, Jessica and Lucy, saved the day and planned fun filled activities for us.
We started off the holiday early by attending a Fourth of July parade at a local retirement home.

| Thank goodness Lucy brought the balloons. It provided for a lot of excitement for everyone |
For the actual 4th of July, we talked to Carl on the phone that morning. We then went to the yacht club with Jessica, Mark and Ella. Jack loved the pool, and all of the food. The kids really got worn out.

| Sophia is grabbing onto lots of things now, and is beginning to play with the toys on her chair |
After lunch, we came home and I let the kids nap. For dinner, Lucy's parents invited us to their house for a pool party and a fabulous BBQ meal. The meal was great, as was the company. They have a big family, and they made us really feel at home.
When we got home, we were happily greeted by our next guests, Elaine and Master Kenobi. When Jack woke up the next morning, you could tell he was totally confused to see two Hermes! He kept saying, I-E? Jack had a blast with Kenobi, and all of the dogs got along. Surprisingly, Master Kenobi really took to the yard, and spent hours each day exploring, drinking from the ponds, and laying in the grass. Who would have ever thought Kenobi would love suburbia! Elaine saved the day with her fabulous bubble wand cake and made ALL the food for the big day! Everyone loved it. Thanks again Elaine!
