San Diego Fun

My last blog post sadly was back in November. Secretly, I sometimes get on the blog and check to see if it has been updated.  I wish that somehow it magically updates itself.  Unfortunately, each time I checked, I saw that same old post:(  My mother always taught me "baby steps."   I finally uploaded all 700+ pictures since my last post, and decided that if I only went through a few at a time and posted those it would be easier for me, and also for all of you!

When I left you last, Fall and the beginning of the holidays were upon us.  Shortly after Thanksgiving, Carl and I took Jack to San Diego.  Carl had a course to attend, and so Jack and I went with him.  Most days, Carl worked in the mornings, and then was able to spend the afternoons exploring San Diego with us.

Jack at the Children's Museum of San Diego...He had just climbed the stairs and was so high up that he could see the big buildings

Jack and Daddy moving metal scraps with these neat magnets

Jack is SO high

Jack adores building things; maybe, he will take after his great grandfathers and go to architecture school

He laughs so hard when he knocks the blocks down

Jack playing with his cars at Balboa Park gardens

Jack loves when Daddy flips him upside down

Case in point!

We all love to explore the gardens, and plan out which trees, plants and flowers to add to our backyard

Us at dinner in San Diego. I think the waiter was scared when we showed up with Jack at Mortons.  They started feeding him ice cream for free to keep him happy!
One of our favorite parts of our trip was our excursion at the San Diego zoo.  It really is the most amazing zoo, and we all really enjoyed our time there.
Daddy lost in the zoo:(  We had to get directions

Jack and Daddy with the tigers.  The tiger cub loved Jack and would jump on the glass to get his attention.

Waiting to watch the zookeeper feed the tigers

Jack and Daddy with Santa.  Jack really didn't like Santa this year.  Hopefully, he will grown more fond of the bearded man as he gets older.

SO happy with his snacks and drink

Jack is super happy to have a brezel (that is what they call hot pretzels in Switzerland).  Do you see the big guy behind them?!?!

Out to dinner

Jack loves to sit in booths.  He feels like such a big boy.
When we got back to Jacksonville, we got to enjoy our first Avondale luminaria.  This event is a magical evening where the historical residences of Jacksonville light the sidewalks with candles, a local church builds a huge nativity scene with real farm animals and kids, floats fill the streets and kids throw candies, and many families that live here throw parties---some even with professional choirs that sing Christmas carols.  It really is a great way to celebrate the holidays.

Jack is so happy after his hot apple cider!
As we say at home, Jack has gotten "SO BIG."  When we say "so big," Jack stands up on his tippy toes and put his arms in the air.  He is so excited that he has been moved into the forward facing position of his car seat and can now see out the front of the car!

Next up...Christmas in Nashville!
